Martin is a professional wine trainer, and he is now working with both stores to develop exciting new wine initiatives, one of which is a new range of Regional English Wines to coincide with English Wine Week 2010.

A wide selection from one of their closest English vineyards is now in stock, from Warden Abbey Vineyard (near Biggleswade). Wines include Warden Vineyard (dry), Warden Abbot (off-dry), Warden Bacchus (spicy), Warden “Extra Dry” Sparkling in addition to “King Coel” (red) from Carters Vineyard (near Colchester).

Martin Straus said “English wines are becoming more interesting every year. We have been offering tasting samples of the wines mentioned above at Farmers’ Markets and other events. Consumer reaction has been excellent; Wine Mine Trumpington and Thresher St Ives will be offering an increased range English wines over the next few months. We strongly support the concept of buying local wherever possible, and English wines have so much to offer. However, we will go outside the region to source an English wine which we consider is outstanding.

Visitors can come in from 11am to 4pm, walk the self guided trail, taking in the wonderful view of the vineyard from across the lake and ending up at the gazebo in the vineyard for wine tasting and a short talk. They can hear how English wine is gaining in popularity and how English sparkling wine is now a force to be reckoned with. Children have activities to do while they go round the trail and get grape juice at the wine tasting gazebo while their parents taste the wines.
